2011 Breakdown + 2012 Trends And Intentions

Wow, 2011! What a year.

I say this for me personally and for internet marketing. On a personal level I want to thank everybody who has made this year such a big success for my business – all my customers, JV partners, and vendors. So awesome! It’s been just over 2 years since I’ve been full-time in internet marketing… and as I write this in Queenstown, New Zealand, 4 weeks into my 6 week trek through the country, I can’t help but be so extremely appreciative for internet marketing. How it has changed my life for the better is mind-boggling to me. (As I write this, I just celebrated the new year last night… and 1/1/2012 is not for another 4-5 hours on the East Coast!)

Last year I wrote a blog post about what I was going to do in 2011 (see it here if you want). It was interesting to read because I got to see what I followed through on and what I didn’t. Also, I can’t believe how similar my plans are for 2012. Of course, my business has changed and I have to adjust for that, but a lot of intentions are the same.

First, I want to break down the IM niche in 2011, the way I’ve seen it…

- The Warrior Plus marketplace has changed the game for 90%+ of the marketers in the IM niche. Clickbank is increasingly lower quality (even though some good products are definitely released there) and the Warrior Forum is where all the best information is being released. We’ve seen two $100k in roughly 24 hour launches on the WF… which is wild exponential growth from where we were last year at this time. I myself launched 4 WSOs this year, totaling around $100k in revenue and about 7,500 sales. Last year, I wrote how Mario Brown said he was going to go away from product creation… well, I think he changed his tune when he saw what was happening on the WF. And I know for a fact that the WF has brought he and Brian a boat load of cash this year, both as a seller and affiliate.

- Getting offline clients is bigger than ever. Except the game now is what new innovations you can bring to brick and mortar companies. Yes, there is still room for grabbing SEO clients… but far less room than there was 1 or 2 years ago. Now it’s about presenting truly innovative concepts for profit. The biggest innovations and opportunities in my opinion are with mobile websites, mobile apps, viral Facebook applications and fan pages, and QR codes (if used in certain ways). HOWEVER, I still think list-building (email in particular) is where it’s at! Yes, even for offline companies! Silly me, always going back to email. But I see it over and over and over again. Send an email, make money. It’s ON-DEMAND, reliable income for any company. One of things that interests me is innovating for offline companies in the list-building arena. Lots is made of the things I just mentioned… but very little attention is paid to list-building. And I mean email lists, text messaging lists, physical address lists, Facebook likes, and Twitter followers. ALL OF THEM hold tremendous value – and many of them can be built simultaneously. The money is in the list! I should have that tattooed backwards on my forehead.

- Selling by Webinars has absolutely exploded. The income and conversion potential of webinars is staggering. The way I see it… for a while there it spiked hard, but then the market was flooded by too many of them and attendance went down a bit and started plateauing. And it seems that some people just cannot get their list to attend webbies. Ultimately I’m not convinced that the EPCs are better on webinars on average… but I still think they are worth doing, especially if you are building a list at the same time (see Triple Action Webinar Profits) and the product you’re selling needs more explaining. Some things are best sold by a sales letter, and some are best sold by webinar – it has to do with the nature of the product. More importantly though, if you can get an autowebinar to convert, then you are riding high. ESPECIALLY if you can do it outside the IM niche, where people are much less wary of this kind of thing. Ultimately, webinars aren’t going anywhere. And more innovative applications for their usage keep popping up.

- As usual, traffic is still being funneled like crazy from the major players – Google and Facebook, mainly. As always, it can be huge if you can figure out these websites. But never rely on them – that is key.

What I’m doing in 2012…

I made a list of things I’m interested in getting into in 2012. Realistically, I know I probably won’t do everything, and the list will expand as the year goes on, but I think it’s cool to get the excitement up and share with you what I really think is going to work… I mean, why would I intend to do it if I didn’t think it would work, right?! :)

- More email list-building, of course. The bread and butter of any business. I will preach it until people stop reading emails. Anybody see that coming any time soon?

—> This includes what I was talking about before… watch for some innovations in email for the offline market (hopefully coming from me!).

- Long-term recurring, automated systems, beginning with SEO research. This is just where MY business is at right now. I want to have stuff that is automated, to create even more freedom with my income. The SEO part is based on my perspective of the larger picture. If you want ongoing, free traffic, it’s important to start with Google. So that’s where the market research and product branding (domain choice) needs to start. I actually already have my next project lined up this way. It’s a big endeavor, but hopefully in the end it will be well worth it.

—> Speaking of SEO. I want to make my first product recommendation of 2012. My friend Jonathan, who has been having great success getting his sites and his clients’ sites to the top of Google for VERY competitive terms, just released a VERY impressive and comprehensive SEO course, focusing on how you can outsource the whole thing. Guys, SEO is still huge. If you have any long-term business goals, they must incorporate this traffic source – it’s just too good. Jonathan’s course is cutting-edge and effective – check it out here. Another thing to note… it has the BEST BRANDING I’ve seen the whole year! When Jon told me about it, I was like, YES! That’s awesome!

- Speaking of SEO in other niches… Jonathan actually ranks his own site for a competitive term in the dating/relationship niche. It may come of a surprise to you, but this niche is VERY interesting to me, on a number of levels. The guys who teach this stuff have really changed my life and helped me tremendously with women. So it’s time for me to give back in my own value-driven way. I have already started on an enormous project and when I get back from the Marketer’s Cruise (which is directly after I get back from New Zealand), it will be back in full swing. I’m hoping that 2012 will bring my IM success in this market.

—> On other niches… for me, I don’t feel like entering into just any niche just because there is money to be made. I have limited time and I want to work on what interests me and where I can bring the biggest value. Maybe this is not something to consider when you’re trying to make your first buck online… but at some point, you will see what I’m saying, especially if your organization is small, like mine is.

- WSOs when I’ve come up with innovative concepts. As you might know, I don’t really like to release products unless I think they are innovations. Truth is, I don’t have too much confidence that even slightly worn topics will sell copies! That is probably just paranoia (I bet I could sell copies of whatever I want), but why work my tail off on a launch if I don’t KNOW it’s going to kill it, based on originality. And I’m sure plenty of good stuff will come to me this year, just like it did in the last 2.

- I like the idea of doing viral stuff on Facebook. That website just keeps going and going. I intend to get much better at this, especially with other niches and offline applications.

That’s where I’ll end for now. Yep, a big, exciting year ahead! 2012 is the marking of the dawn of a new age which has already been in swing. Prosperity and joy is only increasing throughout the Earth! So get out there and ride the wave! Life is sweet!

Best,

David

Solo Ad Results From A Recent Webinar Campaign

So I’m going to post the results of some solo ads that I bought for a recent webinar campaign. The webinar was scheduled for a Friday and all of the 12 solos were set up to be sent within the 48-72 hours before the webinar started.

Go here if you’re curious what the squeeze page was: http://david-eisner.com/mobileappgr/webinar.html

I’m happy to say, that besides one person who came up about 80 clicks short, everybody delivered on time. This is a HUGE leap forward in the world of solo ads. If I had ran this same campaign 6 months ago, I would probably have to be chasing some vendors down right now.

Here are the results. Please read the explanation below it for important notes.

First, the columns. Here they are in order: Unique clicks, opt ins, total cost, cost per lead, cost per click, conversion rate.

I would like to point out something very important. I estimate my conversion tracker to be about 80% accurate. That means that while those who are #1 and #2 might actually be switched. For example, Randy might actually have given better results than Igor. But it’s highly unlikely that Kevin gave better results than Randy because the inaccuracy of the conversion tracker will not account for that big of a variance.

So the most important metric, in terms of performance is the cost per lead one. #1 and #2 are Igor and Randy. In last and 2nd to last are Kevin ($1.53) and Peter ($1.48). In defense of Kevin and Peter, and those who didn’t “perform” as well as others, each list responds differently to each individual offer. If I bought the exact same solos but sent them to a different page, it would probably turn out differently. Though I will mention, from my experience, and also shown here, the age of people’s lists seems to be a factor in conversions.

As I write this, I notice I made a mistake in the cost per click section. Jesse, though delivering me a FAST and SOLID 3361 clicks (and being a pleasure to work with), did not deliver the lowest cost per click. Not surprisingly, that was Randy and Igor. But in all fairness, I bought 1000 clicks from Randy and he delivered me 1764. I bought 500 clicks from Igor and he delivered me 967. Of course their efficiency numbers are going to better than everybody else’s. But in the end, that’s what they delivered. I just wouldn’t COUNT on that happening if you buy from them. You’re really only guaranteed what you pay for. Thanks to both of those guys for going above and beyond. Jason, Jesse, and Heimir also went significantly over their guaranteed amounts.

In the last column, conversions, Steve was the winner and that is not an uncommon occurrence. This has happened before. It seems as though Steve’s list actually takes his recommendations. But he did come up short on clicks and promptly notified me and promised to tack them onto a later solo which I know he will follow through on.

I want to thank all the vendors who participated in this campaign. It was a glorious success!

Join A Mastermind Group With Six 6-Figure Earners… For Free!

***THIS OFFER IS CLOSED.

OK, so here’s the deal. I’m about to lay on the table an insane opportunity to further your business.

But before I do, I want you to know that this is only for serious business owners and marketers. If you are new, that is fine. But you must be serious about being in business, making money, and bringing value to the community. We want to make this a group of people who will help support each other’s businesses, and the 6 of us are going to be taking our valuable time to be in partnership with you – so the only way this is going to happen is if everybody in it takes it seriously.

Still here? Cool. Let me tell you about this ”mastermind group” (a group built with the intention to support each other in business).

It will include myself (David Eisner) and…

- Bryan Zimmerman

- Jeremy Kelsall

- E Brian Rose

- Tim Castleman

- Brad Spencer

What do all of these men have in common? They all make 6-figure incomes as full-time internet marketers. They’re all top-notch product creators. They’re all successful email marketers. They’re all excellent teachers. And they’re all fantastic guys eager to help you out.

We talked about it and we were originally going to charge $197/month to be a part of this group, but we devised a MUCH more interesting and valuable way to make to this happen.

Here’s how you can get in for free…

Today, one of my favorite big-time marketers, Ryan Deiss is opening his new site, “Digital Marketer Lab”. Listen, I’m not going to tell you about every aspect of this new, unbelievable membership site – that’s what the video is for. But I will say that some of the stuff in there is game-changing and exciting. For example, he’s offering split tests results that would probably take you years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to discover. (Ironically enough, that’s just a “bonus” for getting in). Another major component is that you’ll get access to successful campaigns done by some of the most skilled marketers in the industry. These reports are VERY interesting, to say the least. But I’m really just skimming the surface here. Like I said, the video will tell the whole story.

The truth is, over the last couple of years, Ryan has influenced my business more than any other teacher. The guy is just a brilliant businessman. I am aware that he is not everyone’s favorite. But when I’m talking about marketing with my buddies, he is frequently being praised for the trainings he puts out. Additionally, his business is unlike a lot of other big marketers in that he is successful in DOZENS of different niches. He doesn’t just sell marketing advice. And much of what is inside DML is NOT about the IM niche. This is huge, especially for those of you who have businesses in a niche outside of IM or want to branch out and diversify.

So we got together and thought, wouldn’t it be cool to create a mastermind and some training sessions around this gaggle of information he’s releasing? Hell yes it would. And that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

This is not just ANY mastermind group. And it won’t be full of a bunch of random people. This is a going to consist of people who have access to the exact same game-chaging information that YOU are going to be studying. People who are really serious about building their businesses. Cool, right?

All you have to do to be in the mastermind is purchase access to Digital Marketer Lab through THIS link (or another in this post) – that’s it!

—-> To avoid any confusion, here is a link to DML that you can use: CLICK HERE

ON TOP OF THAT (as if that isn’t awesome enough), the 6 of us are going to be arranging webinar training sessions to discuss the material inside of DML! No extra charge!

How that’s going to work… there will be 4 live training sessions in the first 2 months (once every 2 weeks). After that, there will be one training session every 2 months. If you are a member of the mastermind, you will get an email in advance telling you what information we will be discussing on the next training session. All of us (the 6 of us + everybody in the mastermind) will study that material and then we will go over it together on a webinar. You can ask us questions, present new ideas that might help other members, or just listen in and see what you learn.

Home base for the mastermind will be a private, invite only Skype group. Inside this Skype group you can meet other successful and up-and-coming marketers, create business deals, share ideas, notify people of your products and launches, and be in partnership with the 6 of us. All we ask is that you contribute as well as receive. This is NOT a place to come and spam your offers selfishly. It IS a place to come and be in partnership with a lot of motivated, successful marketers.

So if this sounds like an opportunity for you to expand your business, go watch this video and then sign up. Before you do though, please read the terms and the instructions.

Terms And Conditions:

1) Membership in the mastermind is contingent upon membership in Digital Marketer Lab. We feel the monthly or annual investment in DML is actually worth far less than what we should be charging for this mastermind and the training sessions. But we are more about developing a community than we are about charging a bunch of money for this. But you will only be considered a serious member if you stay a member of DML. If you do not want to stay a member of DML but would like to stay a member of the mastermind, it will be $197/month. As you will find out, choosing that option won’t make a whole lot of business sense. (The same applies if you ask for a refund)

2) You must purchase DML through a link on this blog in order to be eligible for free access into the mastermind.

3) The mastermind group existence is set for 8/10/11 to 8/10/12. At the end of 1 year, we will determine how and if the group will continue to exist. No other guarantees about the length it will exist will be made at this time.

4) We reserve the right to remove you from the mastermind if we feel it is necessary (if you spam the group incessantly, for example).

5) This offer to join at no cost is expired.

Instructions:

Once you’ve watched the video and you’ve decided to join DML and the mastermind, all you have to do is send an email with a copy of your receipt to david@david-eisner.com. Please use: SUBJECT LINE: DML Mastermind

In response, you will get a link to a squeeze page. You must enter your Skype name (handle/login) and email address and then you MUST confirm your subscription so that the emails get delivered. This email list will be for members only to update you about upcoming training sessions. You won’t receive any promotional emails by being on this list.

Once you confirm, I will need to add you on Skype. Once you confirm, I will add you to the room. Just await your notification and you’re in.

That’s it!

Thank you for your interest in our new, awesome mastermind! See you on Skype!

Best,

David

p.s. Even if, for some odd reason, you do not want to be in this mastermind group, you should still watch this video. It’s VERY interesting content.

The ONE new technique I am adding to my business RIGHT NOW

So lately I’ve been looking for ONE solid method to integrate into my business. Tonight, I found it. I’ve known about this for years, and now I am committing to implementing it. In this post, I’m going to tell you what it is and why I’m in love with it. I’m also going to tell you why this technique produces an essentially FREE TRAFFIC SOURCE.

If you’re reading this, you probably know that I am pretty big into email marketing. I think it’s one of the best ways to market ANY product or business, for all the obvious reasons. A targeted list of prospects and customers is one of the most valuable assets anybody can have.

So where else does it exits besides email? Yes, that’s right, in your good ol’ mailbox and it’s called Direct Mail.

And there’s a reason it’s one of the biggest marketing mediums out there. It works. It’s worked before email and it’s still working after email, except that more people have STOPPED focusing on it, creating less competition, especially among internet marketers.

The thing for me is that it is a logical expansion to my business. I believe so much in building a list, why not harness the power of existing lists to build my own list, both email and post mail? Well, I already do that on email and it works… it will probably work for mail too, no? And if I have an online AND an offline list that are feeding each other… wow, I can have some incredible security for my business.

Well, I wasn’t even thinking in this direction until I saw Ryan Deiss’ new sales effort, Offline Arbitrage – which again, is not his product. It’s made by a different marketer who is an expert at selling stuff through postcards.

One of the reasons this product caught my eye is because it claimed to solve a problem I was having with getting started, back when I was considering it…

Postcard marketing (or any kind of direct mail) can be expensive. Or so I thought.

They (Ryan and Luke) claim to have a way to sell back your leads on a LOSING campaing. That’s right. Even if the campaign is a loser, you can still make money. This is HUGE. Yes, you will have to lay out SOME money in the beginning, but it’s not that much.

So I got this course and it is KILLER. It’s very clear, easy to understand, laid out in step-by-step instructions, and packed with useful content.

For example, I watched about half the modules so far and looked at some of the bonuses… he shows you how to pick markets, find lists, analyze lists, pick a product to sell, etc. Everything you would expect in a course that claims to teach you how to do this.

BUT ON TOP OF THAT… he gives you 27 niche markets where he is CURRENTLY making money. The thing that I loved about this was that 2 of the niches were related to a product that I have already created. A new title and some different branding and angling, and I’ve got those products made at no or little cost. 2 of the niches were about 2 big websites on the internet where commerce is being done and 1 niche was about small businesses. And if you can’t tell, what I liked was that these 5 niches can easily be integrated into my existing strength and business (Internet Marketing)!

And more…

He gives you a COMPLETE swipe file that is responsible for 17 million in sales.

He gives you a handy little calculator to figure out which lists to go after.

And he gives you a “rolodex”! – numbers to call of important people in the business.

What did I find out though by looking at this rolodex? That I could send postcards for 25% cheaper than he is! Wow, that really got me excited. I’ve got some really cool ideas around this but I haven’t formulated anything so I’ll let you know soon. But even with his current sources, this is still a great idea. It’s where the big boys play for a reason. And I’m getting into it.

And one other idea… this could be used PERFECTLY with pay-per-call. He’s talking about getting people to call a number instead of going to a website… well, how easy would it be to set up a campaign and test it out? I’m not quite at the point in the course where I can say this with confidence… it’s just something to consider. Luke doesn’t really sound like an affiliate marketer as much as he is a seller of his own products. So I’m coming at it from an angle of – hey this is easier but still acknowledging the clear advantage to selling your own products is that you keep the leads- this is KEY.

So this will be my next big venture I am focusing on. And of course, I highly recommend this course: Offline Arbitrage. This guy is a super-successful insider and he really unleashes the goods. It’s closing soon so get in now, you won’t regret it.

2010 Reflections And 2011 Intentions

So I got to my computer this afternoon after enjoying a wonderful holiday weekend and saw all these emails from marketers about the new year. Some were about trends and business and such. But then I read one from Mario Brown that I thought was interesting. In summary, his intentions are to…

1) Stay authentic and keep integrity

2) Move away from WSOs and product creation and go offline and do small business consulting for $997/month (just the example he gave)

He also advises that you join or start a mastermind group that will help keep you accountable to your business.

What I liked was his intention with the message. He shared what he wants to do and why. So I thought I’d do the same thing.

I’m in agreement with Mario on point 1. Keeping integrity is paramount. I’m not going to preach about it or say I am the example of it. I’ll just say how much his first point resonates with me.

What I most likely won’t be doing, is going out and grabbing offline clients.

I’m not saying this isn’t an awesome business. It is. It’s satisfying a huge need in the market AND it’s a growing service area.

SERVICE area.

It’s just not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love my customers, but I don’t have any “clients” for a reason. One of my favorite parts about Internet Marketing is the freedom that comes with it. I wouldn’t give that up to essentially work for other people (that’s how I see it). Also, in my mind it is too much of a time commitment – if you are the consultant on every case and you’re not outsourcing, it is not scalable, and you will run out of time in the end. And if you end up working too much and not enjoying life, no amount of money is worth that effort. I just spoke to a friend tonight at dinner who has 60 clients she does web design and marketing consulting for. And guess what, she’s looking to get out of it because – why? – she works too hard and can’t enjoy her passions.

So, I’ve decided I’m going to continue what I’m doing. Except I might make less WSOs and products in general.

My focus is going to be on “what has worked.” My year has been highlighted by my success in Email Marketing and SEO. And when I look at the situation, Google has changed quite a bit. But the only thing that has changed with email is my bottom line when I add more subscribers. My tactics stay exactly the same, my customers stay very happy, and my income increases. Wait, one thing does increase as well – my Aweber subscription cost! But I will gladly pay Aweber an extra $100 a month if it means I’m making an extra $5000.

So from me, you will probably see more of the same. I’ve got a very top secret email marketing project that is so new that I can’t even give details. But if it works out the way I am hoping, it might be the biggest thing in email marketing since… email! :) And I promise, I’ll be divulging all the details once it’s the right time. Of course, if I do make more training materials, you won’t be disappointed. **If you haven’t seen Email Marketing Revolution yet, just click the banner link at the top of the page.**

I have other goals as well. I want to continue to diversify, not only in marketing methods, but also in niches. It’s important not to rely on once source for your entire income. And when it comes to email (goal-wise), I’d really like to reach that “super-affiliate” status – but not by being cheesy and lame, but by being cool and providing awesome value to the marketplace: = you guys. I still don’t want to be a guru. :)

I will continue to be a great informant for solid marketing methods. Of course, SEO will be at the top of the list. In fact, my first recommendation will be this SEO info product. It’s about saving a BUNCH of time and money on backlinks! But just to walk my walk, you will get more info in an email (coming very soon)!

In 2011, I’m also interested in video, mobile, Facebook, offline/small business consulting, monster commerce sites (Ebay, Amazon), Pay Per Call, blog use, and other important or trending (IMO) methods. Regardless of method, I’m still interested in helping people conduct smart business, make fast cash, build a sustainable income, and/or grow their existing business. Ultimately, bringing VALUE to the marketplace is my number one priority.

I hope everybody had a great holiday and I wish you much success in 2011!

Please comment below on your New Year’s IM intentions!
